About Dr. Gabriel
Mission Statement
I am a licensed clinical psychologist with a private practice in Los Gatos, CA. I provide psychotherapy to children, adolescents, and adults. I work with a wide range of emotional and interpersonal difficulties. I have been in private practice since 2003. I conduct comprehensive psychological testing for children, adolescents, and adults. With over 20 years of experience, one of my primary areas of specialization is in providing assessments and treatment for children and adolescents who have autism or Asperger's syndrome.
I also offer all-day and half-day workshops to teachers and community agencies to help them to better understand the psychological needs of children and adolescents, particularly those with special needs, such as autism or Asperger's syndrome.

Education and Training
I received my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology in Alameda, CA. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from UC Berkeley.
My training and experience includes working with various populations, particularly community mental health and school-based counseling. I have training and experience in individual and family counseling as well as group therapy.
As the Coordinator of the Parents Place Center for Special Needs in Palo Alto, CA, I launched and implemented a new program to address the needs of children and families with special needs. I developed programs to address this growing population, including training of staff and teachers in child development, child psychology, and autism. In addition to providing psychotherapy to children and their families, I launched a psychological testing program and conducted comprehensive psychological assessments for children with
special needs. I held a monthly support group for parents with a child on the Autism Spectrum. Lastly, I met with many community professionals
for outreach, education, training, and support for children and families with special needs.
As a staff psychologist at the Ann Martin Children's Center in Piedmont, CA, I provided therapy to elementary-aged children and their families at a local elementary school for five years. I led two weekly psychodynamic therapy groups for boys who were diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum disorder. I also conducted monthly parent support groups for issues related to raising children with social, emotional, and behavioral difficulties.
For 3 years, I was an Adjunct Professor at Argosy University where I taught assessment and other psychology courses to graduate psychology students.
I have been licensed as a clinical psychologist in the state of California since 2003
(PSY 19388). I am a member of the American Psychological Association (APA), the California Psychological Association (CPA), the Santa Clara County Psychological Association (SCCPA), the Northern California Society of Psychoanalytic Psychology (NCSPP), and the Association of Play Therapy (APT).
I served on the Executive Board of the California Association of Play Therapy from 2013-2016. From 2016-2017, I served as a Board Member for the Santa Clara County Psychological Association (SCCPA) as the Membership Chair. I also served as the Technology, Media, and Marketing Chair for the Santa Clara County Psychological Association (SCCPA) in 2017.
In August 2015, I was asked by the California Association of Play Therapy to be an expert author for their quarterly newsletter. This newsletter is written for play therapists. I responded to a question that was asked by a therapist about how to work with a newly-diagnosed pre-teen with Asperger's syndrome. Please feel free to explore my response here.
Since 2023, I have the honor of serving on the Board of the Autistic Resilience Network, which aims to support individuals with autism and related conditions by meeting their unique needs and empowering their resilience.
